In-Home Chiropractic in Oakville, Burlington & Milton

Dr. Alex Greyvenstein, chiropractorDr. Alex Greyvenstein, DC · Chiropractor · Reviewed October 3, 2026

In-home chiropractic means your assessment and treatment happen in your living room, not a waiting room. Dr. Alex Greyvenstein, DC, is a mobile chiropractor who visits homes across Oakville, Burlington and Milton with a portable treatment table and everything needed for a full visit.

It's the same hands-on care you'd get in a clinic: a proper assessment, treatment for muscle and joint problems, and a plan you can follow between visits. You just don't have to drive anywhere while you're sore.

Treatment

What chiropractic treatment at home can include

There's no single treatment that suits everyone. After the assessment, your plan may combine:

  • Chiropractic adjustmentsA quick, controlled movement to a specific joint to improve how it moves. Adjustments are always optional.
  • Joint mobilizationGentler, repeated movements for people who prefer not to be adjusted or need a slower approach.
  • Soft tissue therapyHands-on work on tight or irritated muscles, such as Muscle Release Therapy (MRT).
  • Assisted stretchingStretching with help, to improve flexibility and range of motion.
  • Exercise and adviceA short home program, plus practical changes to your desk, sleep or daily routine.

Your visit

What happens at your first home visit

Appointments are 30 minutes, including setup, with about 20 to 25 minutes of hands-on assessment and treatment. The table needs roughly the space of a yoga mat, plus room to walk around it.

  • Your historyWhat's bothering you, how it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you've already tried.
  • The assessmentMovement, strength, reflexes, sensation and specific tests for the area that hurts.
  • Treatment, if it's a good fitUsually on the same day, explained as it happens.
  • Your planWhat's likely going on, what to do at home, and whether follow-up visits make sense.

If anything points to a problem that needs a medical doctor, you'll be told and referred. For a fuller walkthrough, read what to expect at a home chiropractic visit.

Safety

Is chiropractic care safe?

Serious complications from chiropractic care are rare. Mild soreness for a day or two, similar to after a workout, is the most common side effect. Before any treatment you're screened for warning signs, and you can say no to any technique.

Tell Dr. Alex if you have osteoporosis, take blood thinners, have inflammatory arthritis, or have had recent surgery, so treatment can be adapted.

Skip the chiropractor and get urgent medical care if you have:
  • A sudden, severe headache unlike any you've had before
  • Dizziness, double vision, trouble speaking or swallowing, or numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg
  • New trouble walking, or loss of balance or coordination
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control, new trouble passing urine, or numbness in the groin or inner thighs
  • Leg weakness that's getting worse
  • Chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Pain after a recent fall, car crash or other trauma, or pain with fever, unexplained weight loss or a history of cancer

Common questions

In-home chiropractic questions

Referral

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Ontario?

No. You can book directly. Some extended health plans have their own rules for reimbursement, so check your plan if you plan to claim.

OHIP

Is chiropractic covered by OHIP?

No, OHIP doesn't cover chiropractic care in Ontario. Many extended health benefit plans do include it, so check your plan's details.

Comfort

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most people don't find adjustments painful. You may hear a pop, which is gas releasing from the joint. Some people feel a little sore for a day. If you'd rather not be adjusted, gentler options like mobilization and soft tissue work are available.

Space

How much space do I need for a home visit?

About the size of a yoga mat for the folding table, plus room to walk around it. Most living rooms, bedrooms and basements work fine.

Seniors

Is chiropractic safe for seniors or people with osteoporosis?

Often, yes, with the right approach. Treatment is adapted to your age, bone health and comfort, and gentler techniques like mobilization and soft tissue work can be used instead of adjustments.

Both

Can I see a chiropractor and a physiotherapist?

Yes. Doorstep Doc is a family practice with a chiropractor and a physiotherapist, so your care can be coordinated if you see both.
